Guest Guide and Presenter: Ian Osteyee

December 5, 2016adminBlog

Today we are excited to announce this years opening Presenter, Sponsored Athlete and Guest Guide; Ian Osteyee.

If you are unfamiliar with the name Ian calls the Adirondacks home and is a sponsored athlete and guide known for super bold and thin, thin, thin leads on ice.

Ian has over 30 years climbing experience in the Adirondacks and has climbed and guided all over the world including Alaska, the Canadian Rockies and a few First Ascents to his name in Nepal!

Around the Northeast, Ian is known for being a thin-ice machine and the thinner and more desperate the ice, the more Ian excels at his expertise.

Many of his FA’s are still awaiting their second ascent by folks who think they’ve got what it takes. A couple years ago Ian jumped on the sharp end to put up a new route called “Ruination” WI6X at Poko-moonshine in the Adirondacks. Read a bit about the ascent here: “Stingray” and “Ruination”

This year Ian will be Guest Guiding Saturdays Thin Ice Clinic and starting Saturday’s evening presentations by talking about training for and climbing some of the Adirondacks hardest, raddest, and thinnest lines and how this has helped him prepare bigger and badder objectives throughout the years.

Ian is sponsored by Camp/Cassin and Blue Water Ropes and has helped some in the development stages, providing feedback useful field use data, on many of the Camp/Cassin Ice Tools and Crampons. If your a climber wishing to up your game in the thin ice realm, don’t miss this opportunity to climb and learn from one of the greats!
