This 1-day crash course into the principles of Ski Mountaineering will introduce you to the skills required to safely access gnarly terrain while managing the level of risk effectively. Join us as we refine your terrain selection and teach you the techniques to mitigate steep terrain. Learn from our guides experience about their risk assessment, define hazards and work through their decision making process.
This is not a clinic for the intermediate skier. The following pre-requisites must be met in order to register for this clinic:
- Advanced skiing or riding skills. (Think double black diamond) Previous back-country experience.
- Have your own backcountry skiing or riding set-up, including helmet.
- AIARE level I recommended but not required.
- Familiarity with rock climbing equipment: ie: harness, crampons, ice tools and basic rope management
